The Garmin Mac support in Canada told me that the unit and not the uppdater were at fault. So I exchanged the unit and same problem occured! I pressed power and pushed up on rocker key, the Mac uppdater recognized the unit but after three attempts still would hang on loader. I solved the problem by using the above method and getting hold of a Win PC with success, thanks
Wed, 05 Nov 2008 23:07:05 -0500craighttp://brilliantcorners.org/nodes/87-fixing-a-dead-garmin-gpsmap-60csx#comment-3702comment-3702@http://brilliantcorners.org/Comment on 'Time for some stories'
timeforsomestories.blogspot.com
Sun, 02 Nov 2008 08:49:17 -0500turnerhttp://brilliantcorners.org/nodes/119-time-for-some-stories#comment-3701comment-3701@http://brilliantcorners.org/Comment on 'Getting PostgreSQL running for Rails on a Mac'
For anyone reading the comments above, the dashes should be represented as two dashes together (ie. – – without the space).
Tue, 21 Oct 2008 21:47:00 -0400Petehttp://brilliantcorners.org/nodes/84-getting-postgresql-running-for-rails-on-a-mac#comment-3699comment-3699@http://brilliantcorners.org/Comment on 'Fixing a dead Garmin GPSMap 60CSx'
Hello I tried and not work for me, I have 276c… itself the procediientos so what but nothing when finishing the installation of the update my gps does not initiate it is in the beginning screen that is a little opaque…
Sun, 12 Oct 2008 00:08:04 -0400Borexhttp://brilliantcorners.org/nodes/87-fixing-a-dead-garmin-gpsmap-60csx#comment-3698comment-3698@http://brilliantcorners.org/Comment on 'Introducing THE PROJECT'
administrivia!
Tue, 30 Sep 2008 22:28:07 -0400cocolacohttp://brilliantcorners.org/nodes/141-introducing-the-project#comment-3697comment-3697@http://brilliantcorners.org/Comment on 'Fixing a dead Garmin GPSMap 60CSx'
This brought my eTrex Venture HC back to life, but webupdater still hangs on the "loader". I thought my unit was toast. You brought a couple hundred dollar brick back to life. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, I wish there were more people who would take the time to explain things as you do. Hold joystick up, hit power and released while holding the joystick up the entire time. Updater software searched for new com port, found. Asked if I wanted to overwrite the firmware – said yes. It went through the sequence to success.

Bill, you ROCK!
Sun, 03 Aug 2008 22:48:43 -0400Steve in AZhttp://brilliantcorners.org/nodes/87-fixing-a-dead-garmin-gpsmap-60csx#comment-2978comment-2978@http://brilliantcorners.org/Comment on 'Kids and the subway'
we were the same way as kids as Seattle doesn’t have subways, so when I would get the chance, ditto, made it into a carnival ride!
Tue, 29 Jul 2008 06:40:11 -0400harold hollingsworthhttp://brilliantcorners.org/nodes/137-kids-and-the-subway#comment-2939comment-2939@http://brilliantcorners.org/
